Powerball jackpot breaks to $950,000,000 Saturday night; 6 second prize tickets sold

The Powerball lottery grand prize is on the move again. The grand prize for the Saturday, August 30th, 2025 drawing increases to $950,000,000 with the cash option of an estimated $$428.9 million. The winning numbers from Wednesday night, August 27th, 2025 were 09, 12, 22, 41, 61 with Power Ball number 25. Nobody won the Powerball jackpot in the past 38 draws since Monday, June 2nd, 2025. The last jackpot was won by a single ticket sold in CA, matched all six numbers for a 207,000,000 top prize.
Even though the jackpot was not hit Wednesday evening, some players still walked away with large winnings. There were 6 lucky winners matched the first five white ball numbers but missed Powerball number, which won the 2nd prize. The three second prize winning ticket(s) bought in AZ(1), NY(1) and VA(1) will collect $1,000,000 cash. The other 3 second prize winner(s) from MS(1), OH(1) and VA(1) also purchased Power Play, which doubled the prize to $2,000,000 cash win!
In addition, 40 tickets matched 4 of the 5 lotto numbers, as well as the Powerball number. Those tickets are each worth $10,000. There were 10 tickets matched 4+1 with Power Play option, multiplying the prizes by 4 for a total win of $40,000 each!
There were 183,524 Powewrball winning tickets sold in the state of Florida. 3 tickets sold in Florida matched 4 white ball numbers plus the Powerball. These lucky ticket holders will receive $10,000 cash each. 334 tickets were sold in the state of Florida which matched either 4 or 3+1 numbers. The lucky ticket holders will collect $100 each. 92 tickets were sold in the state of Florida which matched either 4 or 3+1 numbers with Power Play. The lucky ticket holders will receive $200 each.
With 9 different prize levels, the Wednesday night's drawing created 2,261,282 winning tickets nationwide with a total amount of $0 prizes.
Powerball lottery is played in 42 states, D.C. and the US Virgin Islands. Powerball drawings are held every Wednesday and Saturday at 10:59 p.m. Eastern Time. To play Powerball, pick 5 numbers from a set of 69 then choose one Powerball number from a set of 26. The overall odds of winning any prizes is about 1 to 32. The odds of matching all six Powerball numbers are about 1 in 292 million. The minimum Powerball jackpot starts at 40 million dollar. Its annuity option is paid in 30 graduated installments. Winners may choose one lump sum cash payout option instead.
