A single ticket bought in NY won $260,000,000 Powerball jackpot in Saturday night's drawing

One ticket matched all six numbers in Saturday's Powerball drawing to win the estimated $260,000,000 jackpot, according to lottery officials. The winning ticket was sold in NY. The numbers from Saturday, December 7th, 2024 drawing were 01-31-43-55-57 and Powerball number was 22. The holder of the winning ticket will now have to decide to either take the 29-year, 30-installment annuity, or the one time cash lump-sum in the amount of $123 million before Uncle Sam's share is extracted. The winning ticket holder is encouraged to sign the ticket, place it in a secure place and get in touch with lottery officials as soon as possible. Jackpot winner has the opportunity to choose the cash value of the jackpot while claimng the prizes. If the winner does not make choice, the payment option will revert to annuity by default.
Together with the grand prize hit on Saturday, many more people walked away with huge prizes. A total of 18 lucky players won the 3rd prize with or without Power Play. These included 12 tickets that matched four white ball numbers plus the Powerball and won $10,000.
Additional winners Saturday evening included 290 tickets that matched 4 white ball numbers and won $100. 73 additional players not just matched 4 white ball, but also chose the Power Play option, double the winnings to a total win of $200 each! Additional prizes won Saturday night included 755 tickets that matched 3 white numbers plus the Powerball and won $100. 240 additional tickets of this prize level were also bought with the Power Play option that doubled the prize to $200 cash.
There were 50,897 Powewrball winning tickets sold in the state of Florida. There were 2 lucky Floridaers matched 4 white ball numbers as well as the Powerball and won $10,000. 76 tickets were sold in the state of Florida which matched either 4 or 3+1 numbers. The lucky ticket holders will receive $100 each. 17 tickets were sold in the state of Florida which matched either 4 or 3+1 numbers with Power Play. The lucky ticket holders will collect $200 each.
With 9 different prize tiers, the Saturday night's drawing generated 568,979 winning tickets across the nation with a total amount of $0 prizes.
The top prize of next Powerball game drawing will be an estimated $20,000,000 with the cash option at $$9.7 million for Monday night.
Powerball can be played in 42 states, D.C. and the US Virgin Islands. Powerball drawings occur every Wednesday and Saturday night at 10:59 PM Eastern Time. To play, select 5 numbers from a set of 69 and choose one Powerball number from 1 to 26. Each play costs $2. Players can choose to spend $1 extra to purchase the Power Play, which increases the prizes except jackpot. The minimum Powerball advertised grand prize starts at $40 million. Its annuity option is paid in 30 yearly increment installments in 29 years. Winners can choose one lump sum cash payout instead.
