Powerball jackpot increases to $543,000,000 Monday night; Two second prize tickets sold

Wall Street is not the only place where fortunes are made and lost these days. One fortune will be up for grabs on Monday, when Powerball has $543,000,000 on the line. The cash option stands at an estimated $$272.2 million. Powerball's jackpot went up since no player hit all five white ball numbers and the Powerball number drawn Saturday night. The numbers from Saturday, December 16th, 2023 drawing were 03, 09, 10, 20, 62 and Powerball was 25. No one won the Powerball jackpot in the past 28 draws since Saturday, October 14th, 2023. The last jackpot was won by a lucky ticket sold in California, matched all six numbers for a 1,730,000,000 top prize.
Even though there was no grand prize winner Saturday evening, Powerball had some big winners. There were two tickets that matched the first five white ball numbers and won the 2nd prize. The two lucky ticket(s) bought in New Jersey(1) and Wisconsin(1), each won $1 million cash by matching all 5 white ball numbers.
Additional prizes won Saturday evening included 35 tickets that matched 4 white numbers together with Powerball and won $10,000. 11 additional tickets of this prize level were also wisely purchased with the Power Play option that multiplied the prize 4 times to $40,000 cash! Additional prizes won Saturday night included 762 tickets that matched 4 white numbers and won $100. 262 additional tickets at this prize level were also wisely purchased with the Power Play option that doubled winnings to $200 cash! There were 1756 tickets that correctly matched 3 white ball numbers as well as the Powerball and also won $100. 541 additional players not just matched 3+1, but in addition bought the Power Play option, doulbled the winnings to $200 cash each ticket.
There were 91,190 Powewrball winning tickets sold in the state of Florida. There were 4 lucky Floridaers matched 4 white ball numbers in addition to the Powerball and won $10,000. 239 tickets were sold in the state of Florida which matched either 4 or 3+1 numbers. The lucky ticket holders will collect $100 each. 80 tickets were sold in the state of Florida which matched either 4 or 3+1 numbers with Power Play. The lucky ticket holders will collect $200 each.
With nine different ways to win, there were 1,049,284 tickets across U.S. won a total of $0 prizes in the Saturday, December 16th, 2023 drawing.
America's favorite Powerball lottery is played in 42 states, D.C. and the US Virgin Islands. The overall odds of winning is about 1 to 32. The odds of matching all six Powerball numbers are 1 to 292,201,338. The minimum Powerball advertised grand prize is $40,000,000. Its annuity option is paid in 30 yearly increment installments. Winners can select one-time lump-sum cash payout option instead.
