The Powerball jackpot has jumped up to $178,000,000 (cash option $$80.7 million) for the next drawing in the multistate lottery game Wednesday night. The grand prize amount has been carried over since no player matched all six winning numbers to take the $163,000,000 grand prize Monday night. The winning numbers from Monday night, December 30th, 2024 were 09-19-33-38-39 and Powerball number was 01.
Although there was no grand prize winner Monday evening, some players still walked away with large winnings. A total of 7 lucky players won the 3rd prize. 4 additional tickets of this prize level were also wisely bought with the Power Play option that multiplied winnings 4 times to $40,000 cash!
Additional winners Monday night included 276 tickets that matched four white ball numbers and won $100. 93 additional players not just matched 4 white ball, but in addition purchased the Power Play option, double the prizes to a total win of $200 each! There were 577 tickets that matched three white ball numbers plus the Powerball and also won $100. 190 additional players not only matched 3+1, but in addition purchased the Power Play option, doulbled the winnings to $200 cash each ticket.
With nine different prize levels, the Monday night's drawing generated 402,543 winning tickets across the nation with a total amount of $0 prizes.
America's favorite Powerball lottery is played in 42 states, D.C. and the US Virgin Islands. Powerball drawings are held 2 times a week every Wednesday and Saturday night at 10:59 PM Eastern Time. Each play costs $2. Players can choose to spend $1 extra to buy the Power Play, which multiplies the prizes except grand prize. The overall odds of winning any prizes is about 1 to 32. The chances of matching 6 Powerball numbers are about 1 in 292 million. The minimum Powerball advertised grand prize is 40 million dollar.
