Big Mega Millions jackpot up for grabs Friday night

The grand prize in America's favorite Mega Millions lottery is on the move. Since nobody correctly matched all six winning numbers in Tuesday's drawing, the jackpot will go to an estimated $535,000,000! The cash option stands at $$265.6 million. The numbers from Tuesday night, August 20th, 2024 were 05, 20, 26, 49, 51 and the Mega Ball was 24, Megaplier was 4.
While the grand prize was not awarded Tuesday evening, some people still walked away with huge prizes. There was a single lucky player that matched all 5 numbers and won the second prize. The one second prize winning ticket(s) bought in AZ will collect $1,000,000 cash each.
Also, 17 tickets matched 4 of the 5 lotto numbers, as well as the Mega Ball number. Those tickets are each worth $10,000. Also, 450 tickets matched 4 of the 5 lotto numbers. Those tickets are each worth $500. 1162 tickets matched three of the five lotto numbers, as well as the Mega Ball number. These tickets are also each worth $200.
With nine prize levels, there were 1,890,700 winning tickets sold nationwide in the Tuesday, August 20th, 2024 drawing.
Mega Millions game can be played in 43 states and Washington DC. Roughly 50% of the Mega Millions sales goes back on the players in prize winnings. Around 15% is used to as retailer commissions and lottery operation expenses. Approximately 35% total sales is used to support government services, education and charities in the member lottery states. Mega Millions drawings are held every Tuesday and Friday night at 7:59 p.m. Pacific Time. Each play costs $1. In some states, players can choose to spend $1 extra to buy the Megaplier option, which multiplies the winnings 2 to 5 times except jackpot. The chances of winning are about 1 to 14. The odds of matching 6 Mega Millions numbers are about 1 in 302 million. The minimum Mega Millions grand prize is 40 million dollar. The annuity option is paid in 30 equal yearly installments. Winners can select one lump sum cash payout instead.
