Wall Street is not the only place where fortunes are made and lost these days. One fortune is going to be up for grabs on Friday, when Mega Millions game has $1,150,000,000 on the line. The lump-sum cash payout will be an estimated $$516.1 million up for grab. Mega Millions' grand prize went up because no one matched all six winning numbers drawn Tuesday night. The numbers drawn Tuesday night, December 24th, 2024 were 11, 14, 38, 45, 46 with Mega Ball number 03 and Megaplier x3. Nobody won the Mega Millions grand prize in the past 30 draws since Friday, September 13th, 2024.The last jackpot was won by a lucky ticket sold in TX, matched all six numbers for a $800 million top prize.
While the jackpot was not awarded Tuesday evening, Mega Millions did produce some big winners. There were 4 lucky winners correctly matched all five lotto numbers but missed Mega Ball number, which won the second prize. The 4 lucky ticket(s) purchased in CA,MO,PA,WY, each won $1,000,000 cash by matching all 5 white ball numbers.
Additional prizes won Tuesday evening included 93 tickets that matched four white ball numbers as well as the Mega Ball and won $10,000. In addition, 2169 tickets matched 4 of the 5 lotto numbers. Those tickets are each worth $500. 5543 tickets matched 3 of the 5 lotto numbers, as well as the Mega Ball number. These tickets are also each worth $200.
With nine different ways to win, there were 8,584,676 winning tickets sold across U.S. in the Tuesday, December 24th, 2024 drawing.
Mega Millions is a consortium associated with 44 state lotteries. Each play costs $1. In some states, players can choose to pay 1 extra dollar to purchase the Megaplier, which multiplies the original prizes 2 to 5 times but not jackpot. The overall odds of winning any prizes are about 1 to 14. The odds of matching all six Mega Millions numbers are 1 to 302,575,350. The minimum Mega Millions grand prize starts at $40,000,000. The annuity option is paid in 30 equal annual payments. Winners can select one-time lump sum cash payout option instead.
