The grand prize in America's favorite Mega Millions lottery is on the move. Because no one correctly matched all 6 winning numbers in Friday's drawing, the grand prize will increase to an estimated $216,000,000! The cash option will be a projected $$97 million. The winning numbers from Friday night, August 15th, 2025 were 04, 17, 27, 34, 69 with Mega Ball 16 and Megaplier x. There was no jackpot winning ticket sold in the past 41 draws since Friday, March 28th, 2025.One lucky player from IL won the $344 million jackpot in Tuesday, March 25th, 2025 drawing.

Even though the jackpot was not hit Friday evening, Mega Millions did produce some big winners. There were two lucky winners matched all five white ball numbers but missed Mega Ball number, which won the 2nd prize. The two lucky ticket(s) bought in NY(2), each won one quarter million dollar cash by matching all 5 white ball numbers.

In addition, 4 tickets matched four of the five lotto numbers, plus the Mega Ball number. Those tickets are each worth $10,000. Additional prizes won Friday night included 155 tickets that matched four lotto numbers and won $500. 350 tickets matched three of the five lotto numbers, as well as the Mega Ball number. These tickets are also each worth $200.

With nine ways to win, there were a total of 427,598 winning tickets sold nationwide in the Friday, August 15th, 2025 drawing.

Mega Millions is a consortium of 44 state lotteries. About 50% of the Mega Millions sales goes back to the players in prizes. Around 15% goes to retailer commissions and lottery operation expenses. About 35% total sales is used in government services, education and charities in the member states. Mega Millions drawings occur 2 times a week every Tuesday and Friday at 7:59 PM Pacific Time. Mega Millions lottery uses a 5/70 (white balls) + 1/25 (Mega Balls) matrix from which winning numbers are chosen. Each play costs $1. In some states, players can choose to spend $1 extra to purchase the Megaplier option, which multiplies the winnings 2 to 5 times but not grand prize. The chances of winning are about 1 to 14. The chances of matching 6 Mega Millions numbers are about 1 in 302 million. The minimum Mega Millions jackpot starts at $40,000,000. The annuity option is paid in 30 equal yearly installments. Winners may select one-time lump-sum cash payout instead.
