The jackpot for Tuesday's Mega Millions drawing skyrockets to $226,000,000

The jackpot in the Mega Millions multi-state lottery game has been rolled up to $226,000,000. The cash option will be an estimated $$106.9 million. The prize amount was rolled over since nobody matched all 5 lotto numbers and the Mega Ball number in Friday's $203,000,000 drawing. The next Mega Millions game drawing is Tuesday night. The winning numbers drawn Friday night, July 12th, 2024 were 15-35-48-53-68 with Mega Ball number 08 and Megaplier 3. Nobody won the Mega Millions jackpot in the past 11 draws since Friday, June 7th, 2024.The last jackpot was won by one lucky ticket sold in IL, matched all six numbers for a $560 million top prize.
Although there was no grand prize winner Friday evening, some players still walked away with large winnings. 11 third prize winning tickets were sold nationwide. Among them, 11 tickets matched 4 of the 5 lotto numbers, plus the Mega Ball number. Those tickets are each worth $10,000.
Additional prizes won Friday evening included 254 tickets that matched four lotto numbers and won $500. There were 741 tickets that correctly matched 3 white ball numbers as well as the Mega Ball and also won $200.
With nine different prize levels, there were a total of 1,273,900 winning tickets sold nationwide in the Friday, July 12th, 2024 drawing.
Mega Millions game can be played in 43 states and Washington DC. On average, 50% of the Mega Millions sales goes back to the players through prize winnings. Approximately 15% goes to commission of retailers and lottery operating costs. Approximately 35% total sales is used to support government services, education and charities in the participating lottery states. Each play costs $1. In some states, players can choose to pay $1 extra to purchase the Megaplier, which multiplies the prizes 2 to 5 times but not jackpot. The minimum Mega Millions advertised jackpot is 40 million dollar. Its annuity option is paid in 30 equal yearly installments. Winners can choose one lump-sum cash payout option instead.
