Mega Millions jackpot moves to $306,000,000 Friday; Two second prize tickets sold

The multi-state Mega Millions jackpot has rised to $306,000,000 dollars after there was no grand prize winner in Tuesday's drawing. The lump-sum cash payout stands at a projected $$143.8 million up for grab. The winning numbers from Tuesday, July 23rd, 2024 drawing were 03-09-14-26-51 and the Mega Ball was 21, Megaplier was 4. The Mega Millions jackpot has been rolling over for 14 draws since Friday, June 7th, 2024.A single lucky player from IL walked away with $560 million grand prize in Tuesday, June 4th, 2024 drawing.
Though there was no jackpot winner Tuesday evening, some players still walked away with large winnings. There were two 2nd prize winners from Tuesday night's drawing, matching all five numbers but not the Mega Ball number. The two second prize winning ticket(s) purchased in CT,VA will collect a quarter million dollar cash each.
Additional prizes won Tuesday night included 16 tickets that matched 4 white numbers as well as the Mega Ball and won $10,000. Other winners Tuesday evening included 564 tickets that matched 4 white ball numbers and won $500. Other prizes won included 1034 tickets that matched 3 white numbers in addition to the Mega Ball and won $200.
With nine prize levels, there were a total of 1,288,478 winning tickets sold across U.S. in the Tuesday, July 23rd, 2024 drawing.
Mega Millions is a consortium involving 44 state lotteries. On average, 50% of the Mega Millions sales goes back to the players through prize winnings. About 15% goes to retailer commissions and lottery operating costs. Around 35% total sales is used to support government services, education and charities in the member lottery states. Mega Millions drawings occur 2 times a week every Tuesday and Friday at 7:59 PM Pacific Time. The chances of winning any prizes are about 1 to 14. The chances of matching all six Mega Millions numbers are about 1 in 302 million. The minimum Mega Millions advertised grand prize starts at 40 million dollar. The annuity option is paid in 30 equal annual installments. Winners can choose one lump sum cash payout option instead.
