Enormous Mega Millions jackpot up for grabs Friday night

Friday's Mega Millions jackpot increased to $334,000,000, because no one hit all five lotto numbers plus the Mega Ball number drawn Tuesday night. The lump-sum cash payout for Friday will be $$155.7 million. Tuesday's $303,000,000 is the total payout - before taxes - if the prize is taken in annual installments. The numbers from Tuesday, November 5th, 2024 drawing were 02, 24, 25, 52, 58 with Mega Ball 09 and Megaplier 2. The Mega Millions jackpot has been growing for sixteen draws since Friday, September 13th, 2024.The last jackpot was won by a single ticket sold in TX, matched all six numbers for a $800 million top prize.
While the jackpot was not awarded Tuesday evening, Mega Millions did produce some big winners. There were 2 2nd prize winning tickets from Tuesday night's drawing, matching all five lotto numbers but not the Mega Ball number. The 2 second prize winning ticket(s) bought in CA,MI will collect a quarter million dollar cash each.
Also, 15 tickets matched four of the five lotto numbers, plus the Mega Ball number. Those tickets are each worth $10,000. Additional prizes won Tuesday evening included 313 tickets that matched 4 lotto numbers and won $500. Other prizes won included 914 tickets that matched 3 white numbers plus the Mega Ball and won $200.
With 9 different prize tiers, there were a total of 1,458,464 winning tickets sold nationwide in the Tuesday, November 5th, 2024 drawing.
Mega Millions game can be played in 43 states and D.C. About 50% of the Mega Millions sales goes back to the players in prize winnings. Roughly 15% goes to retailer commissions and lottery operating costs. Roughly 35% total sales is used to support government services, education and charities in the member lottery states. Mega Millions lottery uses a 5/70+1/25 matrix to randomly pick winning numbers. The minimum Mega Millions advertised jackpot starts at 40 million dollar. The annuity option is paid in 30 equal yearly installments. Winners may select one lump-sum cash payout instead.
